What to Compare
Both are effective against Florida subterranean termites. Sentricon (bait) is preferred for ongoing monitoring and prevention. Many Florida pest control companies offer both.
Head-to-Head Breakdown
Termidor (Liquid Barrier)
Features and considerations
- No drilling through flooring required for slab homes
Limits and questions
- Requires trenching/drilling around foundation perimeter
- Chemical in soil — concerns for Florida's aquifer in some areas
- One-time protection (vs. ongoing monitoring of Sentricon)
Sentricon (Bait Station System)
Features and considerations
- Non-repellent bait — termites can't detect and avoid it
- Eliminates entire colony including queen
- Environmentally preferred by Florida DEP
- Annual service contract includes ongoing protection
Limits and questions
- Less effective if stations are damaged or not maintained

Frequently Asked Questions
Which termite treatment do Florida pest control companies recommend most?
Many Florida pest professionals recommend Termidor for active infestations due to its speed, and Sentricon or a competing baiting system for ongoing preventive protection. Some companies offer combination treatments for comprehensive coverage.
How common are termites in Florida?
Florida is the most termite-active state in the US. Florida has both Eastern Subterranean Termites (the most common, found statewide) and Formosan Termites (highly aggressive, found primarily in South Florida). Florida also has the world's only established population of Conehead Termites (Broward and Palm Beach counties), an invasive species. A professional termite inspection and protection plan is considered essential for all Florida homeowners.
