About I'm Moving to Florida
Independent. Florida-focused. Written by people who actually live here.
Why this site exists
Moving to Florida creates a long list of decisions: where to live, how to plan the move, and which local businesses to call after arrival. This directory brings that research together in one place.
General search and map products can help locate a business, but they do not always provide the Florida-specific planning context a new resident needs. We combine directory records with city, service, apartment, cost, and comparison research.
We built I'm Moving to Florida as the resource we wish we'd had when we relocated. Directory records are assembled from public place and business data, which can change and should be confirmed before hiring. Ordinary directory browsing is not sold or shared as a lead. A visitor enters a provider-connection product only by intentionally submitting a dedicated request whose disclosure explains who may contact them. We may receive compensation for an accepted connection request, separately from editorial listings and rankings.
How we source and vet listings
Every business in our directory is sourced through a multi-step process:
- Discovery — We start with the Google Places API and OpenStreetMap data for every Florida ZIP code, filtered to home-service categories.
- License-check guidance — Where a trade license is required, we point readers to the responsible Florida agency. A directory listing does not mean we verified a current license, insurance policy, or permit history.
- Rating data — We display public Google rating and review-count data captured in our source dataset. It can change, so confirm it at the source.
- De-duplication — Multi-location chains get a single canonical listing per metro, not 12 near-identical pages.
- Correction path — Business details can change. Owners and visitors can report errors, and we review documented corrections.
Our editorial standards
Every recommendation page on this site follows the same standards:
- No paid editorial. Brand comparisons, city guides, and category recommendations are written without input from any business mentioned. Premium placements are visually distinct and labeled "Sponsored."
- Local context required. Every category page includes Florida-specific pricing ranges, code requirements, and seasonal considerations — not generic national copy.
- Real ratings, not affiliate scores. The star ratings shown are pulled from public Google reviews, not editorially assigned by us or paid by the business.
- Disclosure of business relationships. I'm Moving to Florida is independent. Lerrow (our parent company) builds growth tools and services for local businesses, including some businesses listed here. Listing in this directory is free and does not require purchasing any Lerrow product.
- Corrections policy. Business owners and visitors can report documented errors. We review correction requests and update confirmed information.
Editorial team
Florida resident since 2018. Founder of Lerrow. Previously ran a notary business serving the Treasure Coast and Gulf Coast — first-hand experience with what new Florida residents actually need in their first 90 days. Oversees editorial standards and directory maintenance.
Our research desk maintains the city-by-city pricing data, climate and insurance briefs, and brand comparison matrix. Cost ranges are planning estimates assembled from available market information; visitors should confirm current prices, licenses, and scope directly with providers.

Funding & revenue model
I'm Moving to Florida is funded by optional premium placements clearly labeled "Sponsored," contextual display advertising via Google AdSense, sales of our own optional digital planning products, business-listing inquiries, and optional homeowner connection services. For a dedicated connection request, a participating provider may pay us for the opportunity to respond. Payment never changes editorial comparisons, organic rankings or ordinary directory access.
Privacy & website analytics
We measure page visits, traffic sources, searches, clicks, saves, comparisons, form progress, and completed submissions so we can improve the site and understand which Florida resources people actually need. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate traffic, Netlify Forms only for submitted lead forms, a separate private first-party event store for site interactions, and Supabase for signed-in account data.
We do not record passwords, payment information, private form-field keystrokes, or the contents of a form that was never submitted. Email addresses, phone numbers, property details, and moving details are stored only when a visitor intentionally submits them. Ordinary browsing and account activity are not sold as leads. When a visitor intentionally submits a dedicated contractor-connection request, we may share the submitted request with the limited participating provider described in that form and may receive compensation from that provider.
A submitted contractor-connection record may also include the consent language and version shown, submission time, traffic-source details, a one-way network identifier used for abuse prevention, qualification status, routing history, and provider-delivery status. We use those records to fulfill the request, document consent, prevent fraud, support customers, and measure the service. To request access, correction, or deletion, email hello@imovingtoflorida.com. We may retain a limited compliance or security record when reasonably necessary to document consent, honor an opt-out, prevent fraud, or meet legal obligations.
Purchases of digital products are completed through a hosted checkout and delivery provider. That provider processes payment details under its own privacy terms. We may receive order details needed for delivery, support, fraud prevention and accounting, such as your name, email address, product purchased, amount, order identifier and timestamps. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
Analytics records may include an anonymous visitor ID, session ID, page path, referring site, campaign tags, device type, approximate location derived by our providers, and timestamps. To request a copy or deletion of submitted personal information, email hello@imovingtoflorida.com.
Apartment reviews are public after moderation and may show the username or pseudonym, approximate residency period, review text, ratings, recommendation, and approved verification badges selected for publication. Account email addresses and user IDs are not included in the public review response. Optional residency evidence is stored privately, is available only to authorized moderators through short-lived access links, is never shared with a property, and is deleted after the verification decision. Review our resident review standards before submitting.
