About I'm Moving to Florida
Independent. Florida-focused. Written by people who actually live here.
Why this site exists
Roughly 900 people move to Florida every day. Most arrive armed with two pieces of information — the name of their new neighborhood and the name of one moving company someone recommended. They then spend their first month frantically Googling for an HVAC tech, a roofer, a pool service, a pest control company, an electrician, and a dozen other home-service pros they suddenly need.
The existing options are bad. National lead-generation directories sell every inquiry to multiple contractors, leaving you with five aggressive sales calls before you've even unpacked. Yelp's Florida coverage is shallow outside Miami and Tampa. Google Maps is fine but doesn't help you compare cities, understand regional climate concerns, or know which national brands are worth the markup.
We built I'm Moving to Florida as the resource we wish we'd had when we relocated. Every business listed is a real Florida business with a real Google presence. We don't sell leads. We don't take referral fees. We make our money exclusively through optional premium placements (clearly labeled) and contextual display advertising — never by interfering with the editorial recommendations.
How we source and vet listings
Every business in our directory is sourced through a multi-step process:
- Discovery — We start with the Google Places API and OpenStreetMap data for every Florida ZIP code, filtered to home-service categories.
- Verification — We cross-check each listing against the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation database for license categories that require one (electricians, plumbers, HVAC, roofers, pest control).
- Review enrichment — We pull the live Google rating + review count for each listing so you see real, recent customer feedback rather than curated testimonials.
- De-duplication — Multi-location chains get a single canonical listing per metro, not 12 near-identical pages.
- Quarterly refresh — Ratings, review counts, and contact details are re-pulled every quarter so listings don't go stale.
Our editorial standards
Every recommendation page on this site follows the same standards:
- No paid editorial. Brand comparisons, city guides, and category recommendations are written without input from any business mentioned. Premium placements are visually distinct and labeled "Sponsored."
- Local context required. Every category page includes Florida-specific pricing ranges, code requirements, and seasonal considerations — not generic national copy.
- Real ratings, not affiliate scores. The star ratings shown are pulled from public Google reviews, not editorially assigned by us or paid by the business.
- Disclosure of business relationships. I'm Moving to Florida is independent. Vantage AI (our parent company) builds AI tools for local businesses, including some businesses listed here. Listing in this directory is free and does not require purchasing any Vantage AI product.
- Corrections policy. If a business or visitor identifies an error, we correct it within 7 business days and date-stamp the change.
Editorial team
Florida resident since 2018. Founder of Vantage AI. Previously ran a notary business serving the Treasure Coast and Gulf Coast — first-hand experience with what new Florida residents actually need in their first 90 days. Oversees editorial standards and the quarterly directory refresh.
Our research desk maintains the city-by-city pricing data, the climate & insurance briefs, and the brand comparison matrix. All Florida-specific cost ranges are verified against quotes from at least 3 licensed Florida contractors per category.

Funding & revenue model
I'm Moving to Florida is funded by three independent revenue streams: (1) optional premium placements clearly labeled "Sponsored" on category pages; (2) contextual display advertising via Google AdSense; and (3) lead generation for our parent company Vantage AI's own AI-tooling product, marketed via the "List Your Business" CTAs in the footer. We do not sell consumer leads to third-party contractors. We do not accept payment to alter brand comparisons or rankings.
