Resident review standards
First-hand experiences, protected privacy, and the same rules for praise and criticism.
Apartment reviews on I'm Moving to Florida help Florida renters understand everyday life at a community—not just its marketing. Reviews are submitted by users, screened for safety and policy compliance, and never rewritten to make a property look better or worse.
Who may submit a resident review
- A current or former adult resident writing about their own experience.
- One review per person, per apartment community. A returning reviewer should update their existing review instead of creating duplicates.
- Employees, owners, vendors, leasing agents, competitors, and anyone offered a benefit must disclose that relationship and may not pose as an independent resident.
- Reviews cannot be bought, sold, generated by AI on behalf of a person who did not live there, or conditioned on a positive or negative rating.
What makes a useful review
Describe what you personally observed, identify the approximate period you lived there, and separate facts from opinions. Helpful subjects include maintenance response, communication, recurring fees, noise, parking, pests, amenities, move-in condition, move-out charges, storm preparation, and whether the experience changed over time.
Privacy and Fair Housing protections
- Use a username or pseudonym. Do not publish unit numbers, personal email addresses, phone numbers, license plates, access codes, or another person's full name.
- Do not identify children, share medical or financial records, or upload photographs containing another person's private information.
- Reviews may discuss accessibility features or a reviewer's own accommodation experience, but may not express housing preferences or exclusions based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Threats, harassment, slurs, doxxing, instructions for illegal conduct, and sexually explicit content are not permitted.
How moderation works
Every new review enters the same moderation queue. We may reject or request changes for spam, conflicts of interest, impersonation, personal information, threats, discriminatory content, content unrelated to the property, or serious allegations presented without enough first-hand context to publish responsibly. We do not remove or delay a review merely because it is negative, and payment by a property never changes a review decision.
Published reviews may be reported by residents or property representatives. A report starts a new review; it does not automatically hide the content. When a narrow edit can resolve a privacy or policy problem without changing the reviewer's meaning, we ask the reviewer to make that edit. Moderation decisions and verification decisions are recorded in a private audit log.
Residency verification and document retention
Verification is optional. Acceptable evidence may include a redacted lease page, utility statement, renter-insurance declaration, move-out statement, or resident-portal screenshot showing the reviewer's name and the property. Reviewers should cover account numbers, payment information, birth dates, signatures, unit numbers, and unrelated household-member details before uploading.
Evidence is stored in a private location, is available only to authorized moderators through a short-lived access link, is never shown to a property, and is deleted after the verification decision. Public review data contains only the username, approximate residency period, review content, selected ratings, and approved badges.
Ratings, responses, and corrections
Apartment ratings are calculated only from published reviews submitted directly to I'm Moving to Florida; we do not blend them with Google, Yelp, or listing-site scores. Property representatives may submit one factual, professional response. Responses cannot reveal resident information, threaten a reviewer, demand removal, or offer compensation to change sentiment.
A reviewer may withdraw their review. To appeal a moderation decision, report impersonation, or request deletion of review-account information, email hello@imovingtoflorida.com from the account email. We may retain a limited security and audit record when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud or document a moderation decision.
Sponsored apartment profiles and verified property information are kept separate from resident reviews. Properties cannot purchase a higher resident rating, a Residency Verified badge, removal of criticism, or advance access to private verification evidence.
These are the resident-review rules currently published by I'm Moving to Florida.
