Three Stars is the very best I can offer. The communications between Hurricane Shutters and myself was the absolute pits. I called several times during business hours, with no return call. Sometimes (twice) no answer at all. I got bogus information as to the status of my order. I was finally told that my panels were experiencing a long backorder delay. Horrible communications!

This round I ordered $2800 worth of clear and aluminum panels of various sizes and paid $1800 in insurance costs and shipping to New York. Counting prior orders of tracks and test panels I paid HSW about $7k. The story is rather long but in this review I will focus on the latest iteration and leave the entire story for another review.

One package of about 70 lbs contained all clear panels, 10 69 inch and 6 61 inch. At this weight one can expect some rough handling by FedEx. In spite of this, the panels came packaged in cling wrap and one flimsy sheet of cardboard. From the get go I noticed the exterior panel with a 17 inch crack and immediately sent an e-mail to HSW. A few days later, with no reply, and after reading the reviews of other fellow shoppers, I opened the package and discovered 7 more panels cracked. Immediately I sent pictures to HSW but have not heard from them yet.

One would think that a small crack is ok, but these panels are supposed to withstand hurricane force winds and if cracked obviously their strength would be diminished. Also, for the price I paid I would expect better service (like in prompt response) and protective packaging. Is that too much to ask for?

Furthermore, I never got the second package which supposedly contained the aluminum panels.

Update: after placing a claim with Route and providing pictures and documentation, Route placed a new order for the damaged and missing panels. Hopefully will receive everything in good condition this time. Still no reply from HSW though. Will update my review when I receive the panels.

Update #2: It's October now and I received, via UPS this time, one package containing the clear panels and in spite of again being wrapped in cling wrap and flimsy cardboard, there was no damage to the panels. However, no sight of the aluminum panels. Again sent an e-mail to HSW and still got no reply as of today.

Update #3: after getting again through the Route claim process I finally got my last missing aluminum panels. Big relief, as I did not think I would get my items due to the lack of communication from HSW.

This last package was supposed to be delivered on a Saturday. I received an e-mail from Route that my package was out for delivery. I saw the FedEx truck making its rounds, stopping by my neighbor and dropping a package and bypassing my house. Then the FedEx tracking mentioned something about taking the package back for verification, and my heart dropped, as I had been through this before. On Tuesday when the package was finally delivered it was wrapped in thick FedEx carton and I thought to myself: did HSW package it this good this time? When I opened the package I burst into laughter: there was another package without a label inside the big package which contained two t-shirts and some loose tracks that I did not order. And of course, the now familiar flimsy HSW cardboard. FedEx saw my items loose in their truck together with other label-less packages and said, let’s package everything into this big box and deliver to the most legible address.

I can see that it’s not HSW’s fault that FedEx messed up the delivery, and in the end Route has come through every time for me. Therefore I am changing my rating from 1 star to 4. I am being generous as in the end I got all my panels, but for the lack of communication from HSW I cannot make it a 5 star. Or is it their fault that they do not package their heavy panels properly?

This was the only place I could find a single 15-in section header that was 2.25 in. It's just enough for one panel but I needed to cut it in half and extend the header I had so water running down from my deck above would not overflow into the corner of my stucco windows. This website was so easy and the price was fantastic because anywhere else it would have had to buy 8 ft piece . The piece came on time was wrapped and came in perfect condition. I would definitely recommend this company for any of your hurricane needs.

Provided accurate delivery status and all materials arrived with no damage. The aluminum panels and headers were per specifications and dimensionally accurate.

I purchased just south of $ 8,000.00 in roll down shutters from these people. Prior to purchasing Matt was calling me, emails etc. Four of the shutters will not fully recoil because the curtain, is larger than the canister. After I left several voicemails and sent several emails with pictures all going unanswered I wrote a " disappointed " review on their website. Next day Matt emailed me and provided a possible remedy that did not work. Again I provided pictures of step by step of their proposed remedy right out of the package. He suggested another possible remedy that required he send additional parts and I agreed I would try it.
Again, after another several emails, voicemails, and even text. NO RESPONSE. I also noticed the unfavorable reviews do not seem to make it to their advertised reviews, witch are all great !!!! At least my review somehow didn't make it.
Unfortunately, they have forced me in to having to go to the next level for satisfaction. Truly unfortunate because I like the product but no customer service to speak of once purchased and they realize they have a problem with design.
