Purchased Springwell combo salt free system and used their recommended plumber. Seeing daily puddles in the garage. Plumber said its the seals and tanks, Springwell says its the plumber’s fault. Poor customer service.

I am a Master Plumber working in the field. A customer contacted me to install a filtration system they purchased directly from SpringWell.

The homeowner had their water tested through SpringWell’s lab and invested several thousand dollars in a four-stage filtration system based on those recommendations. After installation, the water consistently turned brown following the system’s recharge cycle. SpringWell sent a replacement filter, but the issue continued.

The homeowner also received what I would describe as an unprofessional response from a representative named Gabriella when trying to resolve the issue. I personally attempted to contact technical support for clarification and troubleshooting assistance, but my calls were not answered.

As a licensed professional, I cannot recommend this company. Based on this experience, they did not provide an effective solution or adequate support for the system they specified and sold.

In June 2023 I bought a salt based water softener, UV disinfection unit, and a RO system for drinking water and had everything installed by a licensed plumber. As far as I know, the water softener and UV disinfection unit have been functioning properly. The RO tank never gets very full, but I can generally get enough drinking water from it.

The reason for my 2 star review is because Springwell has a faulty tax software program which continually overcharges me for sales tax on everything I buy from them. I live in the unincorporated area of a county, and when I buy items online, my legal sales tax rate is 6.1%. But Springwell's tax software always assumes that I live within incorporated city limits, so I keep being charged an 8.5% sales tax on everything I buy from them. Then I have to either ask for a refund of the overcharge or I have to dispute it with my credit card company.

It feels like theft, because I've notified Springwell of this problem multiple times, and if I don't take the time to contact them to request a partial refund or dispute the charge, I will be overcharged. Every time I order replacement parts I ask them to please either fix their tax software program or to replace it, but they refuse to do so. They just don't care if their customers are continually being overcharged, and that's not good customer service! If there is a next time, I will order brand name equipment that is available on the open market. That way I can search for competitively priced replacement parts instead of having to buy some of Springwell's proprietary replacements, and I can buy from a company that doesn't overcharge me on sales tax.

Adding the SpringWell whole-house filtration system made a dramatic difference in water quality. And, after encountering a difficulty, we've learned that their customer support is very good. I wholeheartedly recommend the company and their products.

If I could leave a zero stars….that would be it. About a year ago I built a new home with a residential well. Read the Springwell reviews and thought they sounded reputable and trustworthy so went ahead and order the whole house system for well water and the saltless softener system. Had my plumber install the system and it worked okay for a few weeks, no color or smell, but the water was not soft. I talked to customer support and they said I could swap the saltless system for a traditional salt system with tannin removal. Of course, it cost me $140 to ship the item back, but I wanted soft water for the sake of my new home, appliances and fixtures. Installed the salt system and it worked great for a few weeks, then the water got harder and harder. About 6 months in, the valves started getting stuck on after each backwash and the system was pumping hundreds of gallons a day into the ground. I called and arranged for a new head to be shipped to me to resolve the issue. I installed the new head and suddenly had soft water again, for about two weeks, then the system gradually worked less and less efficiently and I once again had mineral deposits, stains, etc on all of my new fixtures. Another six months of this goes on and the valves start sticking again and again, hundreds of gallons of water being flushed into the ground. I call Springwell countless times and leave voicemails. I send multiple emails to Brandon with pictures. No return emails and no call backs. Weeks go by and I finally call and get to speak to Brandon who tells me “I will send you a new head, but that is the last time and your product will no longer be under warranty….or you can ship the whole system back because your water is of a quality that our system cannot filter”. I was taken back, I have invested $5,000 into this system and now I’m told that it will never properly filter my water? I argued that the whole purpose in the filtration is to filter bad water…Brandon tried to cite “changing aquifers” and “really bad water” etc. I informed him that I am a geologist and the Floridian aquifer has been pretty stable for the last few million years. I was told that I had to make the decision as the offer would only be made “now or never” to return the equipment. After much debate and argument he agreed to not charge a restock fee (since the equipment is clearly defective) but they will not allow me to drop the equipment off in person (as I live nearby) due to legality issues. So now, I am told I have to spend hundreds of dollars to ship this equipment back when I could simply drive it to the warehouse. Everything is wet, so the weight is hundreds of pounds and I have to make my own shipping boxes to package the equipment in. Makes zero sense. When I talked to another gentleman about being reimbursed for shipping since again, THE PRODUCTS ARE DEFECTIVE, he said there is nothing he can do. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, he tried comparing his company to Amazon and told me “that would be like asking to speak to Jeff Bezos”. So essentially, refused to give me a name or number or connect me to a member of management. I wished I had known what a horrible company and product this was before I wasted a year of time and damage to my new home. The reviews on this companies website are all positive, clearly “filtered” better than their product filters well water.
