We’ve hired this service twice, and both experiences have been unacceptable.

The first job was a simple side-yard cleanup before tenants moved in. She quoted roughly $300. The final bill came back at $1,200. We disputed it, but she claimed extensive labor hours and “tough business conditions.” Against our better judgment, we paid the inflated invoice—for what amounted to pine straw, raked leaves, and minimal cleanup.

The second job was another pre-tenant cleanup while we were out of town—this time the front yard. We needed the bushes cut back after summer, access cleared to the water softener, and the area where a dead oak had been removed cleaned up. When we returned a couple months later (during one of the driest/hottest summers on record), the yard looked abandoned. Everything was overgrown and in worse condition than before. Yet again, we were charged over $1,000.

I’ve since contacted my regular neighborhood lawn guy. He’ll fix her work for $700 and maintain the property going forward. He also mentioned he was mowing the day her team was on site and noticed how slow and sloppy the work was. Given that she charges hourly, this points to a serious lapse in ethics and integrity.

Amanda and her team have been awesome in helping my yard and gardens meet my needs. They were also very timely in response to my initial inquiry and stay in touch in between visits. I am very satisfied with their maintenance and installation services.

A year ago, my front yard was just dust, sand and patches of weeds. Every time it rained, it would wash out into the street. I needed to do something. I knew I didn't want to try to grow grass, or to get pallets of sod, I wanted flowers, butterflies, a safe haven for pollinators, birds and rabbits. I looked for landscapers online, and most of the photos on their websites were of the "typical" landscaping plants, like - the same thing all in a row with red mulch and grass nearby. If that's your thing, fine - but I was looking for a more natural, Florida friendly design and the gallery on the Living Roots website made me think this was a place that would get what I was going for.

I met with Amanda and - sure enough - she totally understood what I wanted. I'm a total novice at all of this, and fortunate for me, Amanda is patient and happy to help even a newbie get up to speed. She came up with a wonderful design, and her competent (and hard working!) team made quick work of the installation. She continues to follow up with me, and when a couple of plants she installed failed to thrive, she replaced them without question.

I highly recommend her, I could not be happier with the way my "not lawn" yard turned out.

The attached photos are right after the install, they don't really do it justice, it's really beautiful. Once the plants fill in and grow more, it will look even more lush and tropical.

My business grew due to the edible garden overhaul from Living Roots Eco Design. I reached out at the beginning of the pandemic and started slowly; now, I have an entire food forest with every edible fruit, vegetable, and herb I can grow in zone 9b. I always thought I had a black thumb, but through the tutelage of LRED I've learned my thumb is pretty green! I develop recipes now from scratch, mostly with ingredients I grow myself from plants or seeds I sourced from Living Roots. I'm very grateful to Amanda and her company for broadening my life and introducing me to gardening, coupled with my love of cooking, I'm in heaven!

Amanda and her team did a great job transforming our front yard into a native habitat and food paradise. Amanda took all my disjointed ideas and turned them into a thoughtful plan and vision, provided great guidance on native, food, and medicinal plants, before converting our weedy "lawn" into an irrigation-free, beautiful landscape. She even incorporated structures we already had but never had a proper home for, including the arbor, a bench, and a birdbath. More than a month in and the plants are flourishing, the raised bed is already being harvested, and we can't wait to start on the next project with her team.
