HURRICANE SHUTTERS
I’m a demanding customer, detail-oriented, legally-aware, a research bulldog. I got five estimates, compared products, required any contracts to protect me at least as much as they protected the company. Price was super important, but reviews and listings with the BBB mattered, too. I wanted to be comfortable with the Sales reps, as they’re the front line of any company. Finally, the company needed to be experienced with the government's grant program through My Safe Florida Home, since I qualified for financial aid and the requirements were very specific. Two of the companies had never heard of this grant, so they were eliminated.
One of the three remaining companies wasn’t locally headquartered and had double-digit branches, but more is not always better. I gave all three a chance to present contracts. One was very eager, great at representing his company, but his company had too many bad reviews – a great price and a great Sales rep couldn't compensate for that. Of the remaining two, one was nearly $2500 less than the other.
Again, cost was a big factor, but so was my comfort with the contract. The lower-priced company had a lengthy contract favoring the company over the customer, and when I asked to have some things adjusted, they summarily dismissed any change or even discussion. That was the multi-branch company and I'm sure they don't miss my business.
Jack Hall Jr's (JHJ) company remained, and frankly, only the price was a point of hesitation for me (they were the second highest of the five). Everything else was absolutely spot on for my high standards.
JHJ was the only company of five that came with samples in hand. HUGE consideration, as it moved me from a very conservative order to one that was closer to my dream (ideally I’d have all Bahama shutters, but that was too costly for me, even with grant). Two JHJ Sales reps came to my home (Jay Fedele and another man who is no longer with the company). They were extremely informative, non-aggressive, and very generous with their time answering all my questions. Both had worked at JHJ for many years. They educated me on a very appreciable upgrade to my home that I could justify funding. Their samples illustrated the quality of their products, while the four other companies expected me to trust their offerings based only on literature.
Sales and Production teams are very different and very separate in most companies, sometimes resulting in issues, so having Jay and his then-colleague promise they would be on hand for it all mattered greatly to me. And JHJ said I could have whatever I needed to feel protected in the contract (within reason, of course).
I had a product request that required the owner, Jack Hall Jr., to approve, and he didn’t have to honor it, but he did. That's not something I could have gotten from a multi-branch company. The enduring reputation of locally-based JHJ is well-earned.
The Production team of Dan and Robert was concise in their secondary measurements so my shutters could be custom-made. They were meticulously created to fit my various openings (one of which had a window a/c unit that needed to be functional after installation). Dan came on property multiple times during installation to make sure everything was going well and to my satisfaction.
My installer, Will, was expert, swift but careful, and very respectful of my landscape. Unlike the more expensive option of impact windows, my shutters enhanced curb appeal tenfold and didn't require invading my home's interior for installation.
The office people were instrumental in getting me everything I needed to present to the state for my reimbursement and make sure their part of the process was properly executed. They included Chrissy, Marni, and Michelle, all longtime members of this company. The extensive tenure of all the employees matters, because it shows that they have been treated well and want to be there.

See all on Google ↗Had the pleasure of talking to Jack and he sut with us and explained all the differences between the framework and how to make it as sturdy as we wanted. Also down the road if we wanted windows in place of screens how easy it would be to do. We had couple more give us bids but we went with Jack's Jr do to his explaining and spending time with us.
William the installer was very thorough on installing our screenroom. He did a fantastic job and took extra care at making sure everything was installed to specks.
The room turned out beautiful.
Thank you to all!

We had 2 outdoor pond ceilings hanged from drywall to aluminum siding. It was no easy job for sure. Given the environment with our koi fish pond, they did an excellent job building a safe work space and were very mindful of the fish and water, not to mention all of my plants everywhere! I was super impressed with the skilled, politeful workers there every day. I really couldn’t have asked for anything better. It was 5 stars in my opinion. They did a great job!!!
The sales rep was very personable. Explained what my options were, provided me with several quotes. What amazed me was how quickly this company responded to my inquiry. I'm pleased that they take care of everything from the permits needed to the clean up. I'm looking forward to the work being done.
I just had to add to my previous review below. It has been many months since our new back porch was added onto the back of our home in Sandpiper. After completion we noticed there was a leak after a hard rain and we contacted the company. Long story short, they came out multiple times and worked on it until they finally found the solution. They kept at it until it was fixed and never charged us more money. They are a company with integrity and professionalism that you don't see much today. So glad we hired them to do build our porch! Thank you especially to Dan Johnson who was so wonderful to work with! He was always communicative and let us know our project was important to him.
Jack Hall Jr.s Construction built a 10' x 35' porch across the back of our home in a 55+ community in Lakeland FL. From the moment Jack Hall stepped on our property and gave us a quote, we felt that we were in good hands. He was professional and very astute in helping us understand the process, the permits required, the length of time needed for construction, and the warranty on the completed job. His crew was professional, prompt, kept us informed and their work was amazing. The company even went to the city commission and applied and received a needed variance. Because it was during COVID, we appreciated the fact that they took care of all of that for us. There were a few minor things that we wanted changed at the end of the project and even though we paid the invoice in full, they came back and made all those things right just as we had asked. I recommend them without hesitation for the quality of their work, the fair cost of the project, and their professionalism!
