The Local Lighting Shop

I chose this shop based on the 5 star reviews, always figure the complainers are outliers when so many reviews are good. But not this time. I wish I could give a higher rating, but unfortunately our overall experience wasn't great.

The good:
- friendly salesperson, knowledgeable and spent time with us picking out the right pieces (2 pendants, one dining chandelier)
- given light bulbs for all the pieces (free!)
- installer was personable, worked cleanly, and was also knowledgeable
- one of the glass globes was chipped, replaced without issue

The not so good:
- things took longer than expected, with no explanation (was told item was in stock, but it still took over a month and 2 calls from me to get install scheduled)
- NO communication, calls not returned, text was finally returned after a follow up was sent, very unconcerned about follow through once they had our money
- "miscommunication" regarding a design element, more honestly we were over promised and underdelivered (when I questioned this, a few times, offered to pay to buy the extra parts- it all fell on deaf ears and was ignored and not responded to as if the multiple conversations had not happened)
- THEY DO NOT DO RETURNS TO YOUR FORM OF PAYMENT. Now I appreciate credit card fees are high, but we should have been told this up front. And even if that were the case, it should not take a over a month and 3 follow up texts (remember, no one answers the phone) from me to get our check in the mail. (We had purchased too many dimmer switches, this was not a large ticket or special item return.) I should not have to harass a company to return my money to me when they received their goods back. That is just poor business.

All in all we are happy with our lights, both quality and price, but due to the overall lack of communication and poor customer service I can not recommend this company.

What a lovely local lighting store. When it seems as though ordering on line would be the simplest and cheapest, think again. We had the pleasure of working with Alicia Scott. From the moment we walked in she made us feel welcome. Her task: help us transition our “Tuscan-style” fixtures to something more contemporary. We had some general ideas of what we liked but we needed professional recommendations. Alicia came to our home to get a sense of our style and the space requirements. Within a short time, she was sending multiple excellent options for our consideration. She answered our questions, kept her sense of humor as we debated the pros and cons of each fixture (color, size, coordinating styles between room locations, wattage, functionality, etc) until we agreed on the perfect lights for our spaces. They are beautiful and we couldn’t be happier. Everyone was as excited as we were to see our new fixtures in our home.

Every once in awhile you come across a store that provides outstanding service and selection. We stopped into the Port Charlotte location of The Local Lighjting Shop and were fortunate enough to meet Alicia! We so enjoyed the interaction with her! Her idea and insights, the recommendations she gave us has been invaluable. We are in the process of building a new home, and it has been a joy to work with her. I only wish we would have met her sooner in our build process! We cannot wait to see how the finished product turns out, we are sure it will be amazing, thanks to Alicia and The Local Lighting Shop!

Suzanne was extremely helpful and knowledgeable! She was very personable and knows her business. She made awesome suggestions, was not pushy, and went above and beyond!! Great customer service! We love her!!

Carissa always does a great job with my lighting needs. She has helped me with low voltage exterior lighting selections and sourced a the installer. After hurricane Milton I had some issues with my exterior lighting that was submerged during the storm. Carissa called with electrical contractor for me, fixed and back in order. Great service is what you can expect.
