Stay Away from Pool Builders
When I chose Pool Builders, it was because they’ve been around since the 1960s. I assumed that kind of longevity meant professionalism, experience, and strong customer care. Unfortunately, my experience with the current company has been the complete opposite.
The problems started with the design phase. I was told I’d be getting a dark blue pool finish as an “upgrade.” I was never provided a mockup or rendering to visualize the final look. Based on that information, I chose tile to complement a dark blue pool. When the finish and tile were installed, it looked terrible. Their version of “dark blue” was closer to aqua, and the tile clashed badly. I asked for help and was told they would redo it — for $7,000. Feeling stuck, I paid it. This entire situation could have been avoided with a simple mockup, which I’ve since learned is standard in the industry.
The bigger issues came later. When the city came for the final inspection, no one from Pool Builders was present. I happened to be home and met with the inspector myself. The inspection failed because drainage swales — clearly shown on the approved plans — were never installed. This was the first time I had ever heard of them. By that point, everything was already completed, including my decking and landscaping.
For over a year, I’ve been trying to get Pool Builders to take responsibility for this. After repeated follow-ups and even threats of legal action, I finally met the project manager DJ for the first time — a year after completion. I was told that I would need to tear up my own landscaping and decking, and only then would they install the drainage they originally failed to build.
I’ve escalated this through management, Willie, with no meaningful resolution and am now being forced to pursue legal action.
Based on my experience, I strongly urge anyone considering this company to go with someone else. I wish I had.

PHENOMENAL WORK! Excellent Communication and totally overachieved my expectations. That sums up how I feel about Pool Builders. It is so hard to find quality, reputable and honest pool companies here in Florida. I am so pleased that we went with Pool Builders. The owner Kevin, was very creative when it came to updating my pool. In the showroom Daylin and Bill took the time to give over everything with me. Pool Builders Inc is the most used company in our neighborhood and for good reason!

I highly recommend reaching out to Lawrence Simmons for a design & quote. He knows everything about pools and will help you decide on the many options available. He is incredibly patient and will even render a 3D design which is very important on such a big purchase.

PBI has been in business a long time and you can tell they know what they are doing and will stand behind their product when it’s complete. We found the process much faster than anticipated. We began our dig the day after Memorial Day 2024 and were hoping to be done with everything before Thanksgiving and my family’s arrival. Well we were swimming before the end of August! (Shout out to Daylin for her scheduling magic!)

Pool builders did a phenomenal job on our pool. From beginning to end, Daylin (our project manager) was extremely transparent on what to expect every week throughout our building process. All of the steps and processes throughout our build were seamless and went off without a hitch! We are so happy with how our pool came out and we hope to have many memories in our new backyard! Thank you again PBI for making our pool dreams a reality!! I would highly recommend them if you are in the hunt for a pool construction company!

I recently hired Pool Builders to design and build and new pool. From start to finish they have been great. They came highly recommended for good reason. From the start John helped design the pool using his years of experience and it turned out just as planned. The company was very punctual and professional. Daylin In the office always responded promptly to any questions I had and streamlined the project. I highly recommend them!
