We are in the process of a complete, 22 year old, master bathroom remodel. We are still in the early stages, but so far our experience has been fantastic. Gilbert Design is very professional and high quality. Everyone we have dealt with have been very friendly and enjoyable to deal with. Jarrod (Project Manager) is very thorough and clear to understand. Most of our dealings have been with Katie. She is an excellent designer and has really helped us so far, through the designing process.... we would be lost without her. She is extremely friendly, and it is a joy every time we meet with her. Can't wait to get the job underway and we'll update our review as the progress continues.

Why did we choose Gilbert Design Build for our whole home remodel project? For us, it was all about trust. We have known the Gilbert family for many years personally. They are committed to excellence in all they do and are well respected by all who know them.

Our first meeting with GDB was in September, 2025, when we met with Katie Marzec, their designer. Katie listened carefully, patiently and took notes regarding what we had in mind. The next step was to schedule an in-home visit Katie, Jarrod and Evan to take pictures and measurements as well as to have a thoughtful discussion about our potential plans. Katie and Jarrod listened intently to everything we had to say as Evan was carefully taking digital measurements. We were extremely impressed with Jarrod’s knowledge about any subject we brought up related to the work we were considering having done. Katie was taking detailed notes on what our vision was.

Several weeks later we met Katie in the GDB showroom where, on their big screen, she presented us with three design plans for our kitchen that exceeded our expectations of what might be possible. We wish there was a picture of our faces as she revealed her plans to us. Katie has been an absolute joy to work with and has been with us every step of the way forward. She has made excellent suggestions using her expertise in design, always taking into account our personal likes, dislikes and budget.

The next in-home meeting included Katie, Jarrod and subs from all the different specialties that would be involved in the work. When Jarrod first scheduled the meeting with us, we thought it would be a simple “meet and greet”. To the contrary, it was anything but that. Each sub walked through our home looking at the blueprints as Jarrod and Katie provided details and answered their questions as needed. We were extremely impressed with how thorough this meeting was. It gave us assurance that our project would be handled carefully and with attention to detail.

Work is scheduled to begin in a few days, the first week of March 2026. From our point of view the GDB team has exhibited great communication with each other and with us which is vitally important to achieving a successful outcome.

To some companies we might be just another project, but we are confident that the team at GDB has never lost sight of the fact that this is not only a project, but this is our home. We are looking forward to a terrific outcome!

Gilbert Design Build performed a total (to the studs) renovation of our 2 story, 40 year old condo. Work began during the COVID days. They performed well give the crisis situation we were all experiencing i.e. delays in permitting, availability of materials, manpower, etc. Through it all, the project continued. After initial installation of the kitchen cabinets the veneer began to loosen on the custom built cabinets doors. Gilbert contacted the manufacturer, the warranty was respected, and the doors were completely redone and reinstalled by Adam (a master carpenter). Jarrod Gilbert was persistent, diligent and communicative during the process to ensure our complete satisfaction.

The project was supposed to be 8 to 10 weeks, and it took a total of 26 weeks.
*Half the order came in wrong.
*The contractors they use are more day laborers than skilled contractors "5 painters, 4 drywallers."
*They bait and switch you on products like "can lights, kick plate lights."
*They offered smart home switches, but ordered products that do not use the switches.
*They never met an inspector here once, and they told us that they would be here for all inspections. "We have a lot of out-of-town clients that we do that for."
*They didn't order enough product for the scope of the job.
*They tried to charge for things in the contract that we didn't receive: "Cleaning, change orders."
*They took it upon themselves to alter the product rather than ordering the right product: "Drain stops."
*The portal they use is a joke. They never answer the portal, nor do you see any upcoming projects on the portal.
The plumber they use sawed into the contract without using any filtration or coverings. The dust went through the HVAC system and released concrete dust throughout the entire house. They sent a cleaner 3 weeks later, " I cleaned it myself rather than have to live or breathe concrete sawdust for three weeks. Overall rating: not even a star.

I recently hired Gilbert Design Build for my tub-to shower conversion. I was told how many days the project would take (2) and it did take 2 days. Randy & Trace were helpful and professional at the initial stage of the project. Jerry Gilbert stopped by a few times to see how the job was progressing, and he was always there to answer my questions. The installation team showed on time both days, met their goal in a timely manner, did a very good job, and left the work area clean. I am completely satisfied with the whole process and would certainly recommend this contarctor for your project needs.
