I am a homeowner — and a Certified Licensed Home Inspector — who hired Bison Roofing and Solar with my fiancé after seeing their many excellent reviews. My credentials make this even more alarming, because these are not small issues — they are fundamental failures that no homeowner, with or without technical knowledge, should ever have to face. We originally planned a full metal roof replacement, but decided to start with preliminary repairs first — and thank God we did.

The shingles they installed were not secured at all. There was no proper nailing, adhesion, overlap, or sealing. Several shingles can be pulled out by hand, which is unsafe and completely unacceptable. The materials they used also do not match the color of the existing shingles.

We also found new damage in areas that were not part of the repair. Shingles that were previously intact now have fresh chips, broken sections, and exposed gaps, clearly caused during their work.

The plumbing stacks they installed were the wrong size and were forced into place, leaving them compressed and unable to function properly. This can trap sewer gases and push them back into the home, which is a serious concern.

Although it hasn’t rained yet, the way the shingles were installed leaves open pathways for water intrusion. Under normal rainfall, this installation will fail — it is not sealed, secured, or weatherproof.

The flat roof coating was applied in a similarly careless manner. It was dumped and poured unevenly, without proper spreading, leaving thick clumps and bare areas.

All of this is documented with videos and photos taken before and after their work.

We did our research, trusted the reviews, and still ended up with unsafe and unacceptable workmanship. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Bison Roofing and Solar to any homeowner or property owner

My wife and I would highly recommend Bison roofing and Solar. I am a general contractor in the industry, and I have worked with many roofers over 21 years. We chose Bison because they could package the roofing and the solar, and to our surprise, they exceeded every single expectation we had. Their communication was amazing, they were prompt dependable and on time. They addressed all of our concerns. They not only changed the rotten facia as part of their contract, but they also primed and sealed it and they’re carpenters Did an amazing job.
Most importantly, they were extremely clean. I was there for them all day during the tear off and anything that fell off the protective tarps (which was laid all the way around our house ) was immediately picked up. They covered the pool as any roofer would, but when one piece of a tile fill on the plastic cover, they immediately temporarily removed it, so it would not sink in the pool and put out new plastic, which is above and beyond. When we went out for two hours and returned home on the evening of the tear off, they had cleaned up everything around the house, and did not leave anything including all the tarps all the way around the property. The next day they came and reinstalled the tarps and all the protective plastic around the house before they commenced. The metal roof came out flawless. If I could give them six stars out of five I would.

Bison Roofing replaced my roof with a metal roof. I am very happy with the professionalism and knowledge that the crew they sent worked with. They came did their job and cleaned up before leaving every day. I'm very happy with my roof.
I had a small issue that I noticed after the fact.
Ariel Hernandez came out personally to look and see what was going on and took care of the issue for me and I can definitely tell you that they stand behind their name and you are in good hands

I strongly recommend exercising caution before doing business with Bison Roofing & Solar.

I signed a contract for a roof replacement and solar installation with the clear and repeated understanding—confirmed in writing via texts and emails—that the solar system would be installed before the December 31 tax credit deadline. This timing was a material reason I agreed to move forward, and I explicitly stated that I would not proceed with solar if that deadline could not be met. The sales representative responded in writing that the solar would “definitely” be installed before the deadline.

Despite this, the project experienced repeated delays. After the deadline passed, I was informed that the delays were supposedly due to factors outside the company’s control. However, I have prior written communications from Bison stating that my project was delayed due to the unexpected departure of key permitting staff, which directly contradicts that explanation.

I was also told during the sales process that the roof replacement was required in order to proceed with solar, yet later the company claimed the roof and solar projects were completely independent when I raised concerns about the missed deadline.

After the tax credit deadline was missed, the sales representative attempted to persuade me to continue anyway by referring me to an outside accountant to see if the credit could still be claimed, rather than addressing the missed commitment.

Because of the conflicting information, missed timelines, and shifting explanations, I lost the tax credit I was promised would be achievable. All of this is documented in writing

At the start of our roofing and solar project, everything went very well. Communication was clear, expectations were set, and we felt confident moving forward with this company. Unfortunately, as the project progressed, communication began to break down, which has led to several ongoing concerns that we are hoping to resolve.

Crews began arriving at our home without prior notice, which was disruptive and unexpected. We were also informed after the fact that there would be an additional charge related to delivery placement—something that was never clearly communicated upfront and came as a surprise.

The most serious issue occurred during the solar installation. We were explicitly told—via text—that our power would be disconnected for less than five minutes. Instead, our household was without power for over 15 hours. During this time, we received no proactive communication, no updates, and no consideration for the people living in the home.

This extended outage caused real impact: a refrigerator full of groceries (approximately $500) was lost, my elderly mother was left without power, and we had dogs at home with no opportunity to make alternate arrangements due to the lack of advance notice. When we raised these concerns, we were advised to follow up with FPL, which felt dismissive and did not reflect the level of customer service we expected—especially since the information we were given came directly from your team.

Since then, communication has been extremely difficult. Calls, texts, and emails requesting escalation to someone in leadership have gone unanswered. The only consistent communication seems to occur when payment is being requested, despite the project not being fully completed. We continue to be referred back to the contract and asked to release funds, without addressing the unresolved issues.

I want to be clear that I am not an unreasonable customer. I am simply asking for accountability and a fair resolution. Requesting reimbursement for the lost groceries after a 15-hour unplanned power outage does not feel excessive—it feels appropriate. When project management, communication, and leadership systems break down, situations like this unfortunately occur.

I am hopeful this company will take the opportunity to address these concerns, improve communication, and work toward a resolution. While I may be just one customer, experiences like this can have a significant impact if not addressed.
